What Gamemur is

Gamemur is an independent website with free games that run in your browser. There is nothing to download and you can play without an account. The catalogue has 18 games: card games such as Klondike Solitaire, FreeCell and Spider, board games such as Chess, Checkers, Dominoes and Parchís, puzzles such as Sudoku, Minesweeper and 2048, word games, a geography quiz and a few arcade classics.

How the games are made

The games are our own work: the code, the boards, the tiles and the texts are ours, and we do not use images or logos from third parties. Each game page explains the rules, the controls and some strategy, and says what the game really does, for example which levels it has or how many mistakes it allows.

Languages, devices and accessibility

The site is available in 12 languages: English, Spanish, German, French, Portuguese, Italian, Russian, Polish, Turkish, Japanese, Korean and Simplified Chinese. Several of the translations were produced with machine translation and have not been reviewed by native speakers, so some wording may be improvable. The games work on phones and computers, most of them can be played from the keyboard, and we test the pages with automated accessibility checks.

Accounts, coins and daily challenges

An account is optional. You sign in with a six-digit code sent by email, with no password. Coins and levels are virtual rewards for playing: they have no monetary value and cannot be exchanged, sold or earned by viewing ads. The Arena offers three daily challenges that are the same for everyone, and with an account the server verifies the result before it counts.

The GTA hub

Gamemur also keeps an unofficial information hub about Grand Theft Auto. Every fact is labelled as official, reported, rumour, not announced or unverified, and carries a date and, when there is one, a source. Read our editorial policy for the rules we follow.

How the site is funded

Gamemur is free for players. In the future it may show advertising to cover its costs; if that happens, ads will never appear on top of game controls, will not reward clicks and will be shown only after you have made your choice about cookies. We will update our privacy policy before that happens.
